Murphy and Carrie Martines might just be two of the most inspiring creatives that I’ve had the pleasure of knowing…
The couple—both accomplished action-sport / streetwear industry design veterans—are as talented as they are humble, with a impressive collective resume that has truly shaped the way we feel about trunks, tees and sundresses. Their latest labor of love has been the thoughtful two-year restoration of a Mid-Century ‘Cliff May‘ Ranch House in the leafy Orange Country community of Tustin—a home that they share with their black french bulldog, Stella.
The Martines’ purchased the classic 1955 fixer-upper property that had been questionably “renovated” with a tuscan-spanish flair; a disastrous combo that Carrie said included “a lot of peach-y beige.” The couple quickly sprung to action to return the home to it’s minimalist roots and the result has been phenomenal. Built in May’s traditional L-shaped floorplan, the natural light-filled home hugs an enclosed patio pool. The Polished concrete floors that run throughout the residence and are offset with crisp, optic white walls. A sturdy cement fireplace anchors the family room which is framed with an inviting Lignet Roset togo sectional, molded Panton chairs and a Kartell coffee table. The result has achieved the unthinkable; a warm, inviting yet strikingly-minimal abode that this family is lucky enough to call home.
